Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security question

Here is a great question submitted to a facility on our site.  I am posting it because it really represents the complex questions facilities may be asked from potential residents or families.

The question:

Do you accept patients that have a mental disability, receive Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare for payment?  I am the legal guardian of my mother and conservator as well.  She is 55 years in age and she just can not be left alone in her house for any length of time without having to go back into the hospital.  She is non-violent, but can be uncooperative in following her treatment plan.  She is currently receiving services from Comprehensive Mental Health Services.  I will not be able to pay any out of pocket expenses for an assisted living facility.  We need to place her immediately.

When I was looking for an assisting living facility for my parents someone recommended I read this book “Everything You need to ask when selecting an Assisting Living Facility” It really helped me out and helped to prepare me to select the right facility

I am going through the same thing. I am able to get on the computer, which is nice. I can’t do much of anything else. I am 58 and can’t find housing. I am on SSI and go to the mental health where I live. I need help with alot of things and have no-one. No family. I am paying regular rent and utilities. I am in debt and will have to move soon. I have applied for section 8 and public housing. It is a long wait and in the waiting, who knows what could happen. There are so many people my age that have this same problem. There is not enough programs for us to recieve help. I am on medicaid but a assisted living facility will take all your check. They want to put you in a room with someone you don’t know, and keep control of you. I am not ready for that. I am to independant. On the other hand I need someone to keep an eye on me. It’s hard when you don’t have anyone close by. Anyone that has family should be grateful they have them. I wish you luck in finding help! God Bless!
