Assisted Living Tidbits:

We were a little surprised that there wasn't a more solid showing of assisted living facilities in New Haven. We were only able to find a few of them (or, if there are more, they don't really have much of an online presence).

For a city of almost 125,000, we thought there would be more. However, what may be happening is that New Haven is sort of a core urban area, surrounded by numerous suburbs and smaller towns, where there are quite a few more assisted living and Alzheimer's care facilities - not such a far drive from New Haven. So really, there is representation in the area, but as far as New Haven proper, not so much...

Maybe that will change in the next few years.

On the flip side, New Haven does have some other important offerings for it's seniors - such as 3 very good and active senior center, each one having an "Elderly Services Specialist" that we assume helps to coordinate the activities and manage the center. We've listed the calendar of events page on this page in the main section.

We were also happy to see that New Haven has an Elderly Services Department, which will help assist those who are over 55 - to remain independent and active, and to enjoy the great number of activities that the City of New Haven has to offer.
