This number represents 10.2 percent of the population of Chicago, which is slightly lower than the national average of 12.4%. The City of Chicago falls under the umbrella of services and programs provided by the city's Senior Services Area Agency on Aging - which is 'designed to address the diverse needs and interests of older Chicagoans, from those who are healthy and active, to those who are frail and homebound.' The services and programs provided range from health and fitness, to education, and to other recreational outlets.
