Assisted Living Tidbits

We receive news feeds every day via email for assisted living - anything and everything related to....and we have noticed that many of the stories and news articles are...well - not very positive or encouraging. Of course, this is a reflection on the tone of national and network news in general - always reporting the grim and disturbing, and news for the assisted living market is often times not very savory or feel-good (just today we saw a story about a roof collapsing on an assisted living facility).

So, in response, we wanted to put together a positive article, celebrating successes in assisted living!

I had a personal story of my aunt, who, after leading over 60 years of what one can describe as an unhappy life laced with mental disorders and personal dysfunction with relationships - has finally, as it appears - found happiness in an assisted living facility.

For the first time in many years, we have seen our aunt heartily laugh, and have fun, and make new friends. She has a new glow to herself - and looks as if the weight of the world has been lifted off of her shoulders!

The facility takes care of many of the little details of life that she was not able to manage well on her own. The facility cooks all of her meals; does her laundry; manages her medications, and much more. However, most importantly, it has provided her a readily accessible network of people to relate to and develop friendships with. She is no longer isolated (for years, she lived alone).

She's been in this facility for a few years now, and we hope that the sunset years of her life are her happiest. You can read our article "An Assisted Living Success Story" - and we invite anyone with an inspiring story of their own to share with us!
