The Senior Services Department offers a wide variety of incredibly useful programs and services, which are all designed to help improve the quality of life, and to foster independence among Gwinnett County seniors. In addition, the services provided are intended to help those who may have assumed the role of caregiver for a senior member of their family. Among the services offered, Gwinnett County offers a Meals on Wheels program. This program is designed to help seniors who are unable to leave their home, or who are unable to make their own meals. This is a very valuable service to seniors who wish to remain at home, instead of moving into an assisted living or long term care facility. Caregivers often times suffer from exhaustion and burnout while taking care of a family member or loved one. Gwinnett County offers an "In-Home" respite care program that is designed to offer a break to caregivers, allowing them rest, and to tend to their own personal needs. The County also offers a transportation program that exists to assists seniors who need help getting to and from appointments, senior centers and activities, and more. To find out more about the senior programs offered to residents of Gwinnett County, Lawrenceville, and other towns within the county, please visit the Senior Services Page.
