Danbury, called the "Gateway to New England"
is located in Fairfield County, and is a fairly large city.
At last count, over 78,000 people called Danbury home. It
is estimated that over 11% of the population of Danbury
is over 65 years old.
Danbury is a beautiful city, and there are numerous parks
to enjoy the outdoors. Danbury Candlewood Park is a lovely
setting and it overlooks Candlewood Lake.
Danbury has a great Department of Elderly Services dedicated
to improving the quality of life of Danbury citizens who
are over 50 years of age. Their programs focus on social,
spiritual, physical creative, intergenerational, multicultural
and animal/nature aspects. It is the Department's goal to
end boredom, lonliness and helplessness through outreach
and referral services, in addition to their numerous program
offerings.
