A day program that provides the elderly and other adults with services when their caregivers are at work or need relief. Only those adult day care programs seeking to serve one or more participants with Waiver fundings are required to be certified.

A place where 3 or 4 adults who are not related to the operator reside and receive care, treatment or services that are above the level of room and board and that may include up to 7 hours per week of nursing care per resident.

A chronic neurological condition named after Dr. James Parkinson, a London physician who was the first to describe the syndrome in 1817. PD is a slowly progressive disease that affects a small area of cells in the mid brain known as the substantia nigra. Gradual degeneration of these cells causes a reduction in a vital chemical known as “dopamine.” This decrease in dopamine is what causes the symptoms of the disease.
