What is Hospice Care?

Hospice care is basically a community of caregivers, doctors, nurses, social worker, clergy, and others who share a common goal: To make a dying person's final days as comfortable and pain-free as possible. They also strive to make the dying process as dignified as can possibly be.

On the financial side, hospice care is somewhat unique. It is the only form of custodial care that is paid for by Medicare. A physician has to declare a patient hospice-eligible, though.
