This page is is dedicated to providing information on the many wonderful assisted living facilities and communities in St. Louis area. All facilities listed here may be contacted directly, safely and securely (hopefully a breath of fresh air, given how many questionable senior care sites there are nowadays!)
One of the things I have brought with me from my days working in the hospitality industry that also applies to assisted living homes, is that first impressions go a long, long way.
We all want answers as to which facility is the best, or most established, or perhaps the one that is managed with the most competence. After all, it’s a big, big decision in a family’s life.
I’ve noticed, in my time visiting facilities, and researching for this site, that often that first, ‘gut’ impression about a facility says a lot. If you visit a facility, and nobody comes to greet you, or, if the greeting is anything less than “we’re thrilled to see you” then something is probably amiss. If there is anything less than spotless in the public’s eye, you can almost surely bet that it is the same case behind the scenes. If you call the facility, and the phone goes unanswered, might that indicate a staffing problem?
It’s ultimately up to you to make the decision. What I’ve tried to do with this page (and our Missiouri main page) is to list facilities (obviously), but to also provide information on state and local sites and agencies that can help you to further your research, and to ease the decision-making process. With that in mind, I’d like to highlight up-front the St. Louis Area Agency on Aging, which provides non-commercial support and information on many of the city’s senior programs and assistance, such as meal services, transporation, as well as socialization and volunteer opportunities!
We highlight two important state/local sources for facility data, information and support specific to Saint Louis, including inspections & complaints reports. You will also learn how to identify facilities have Medicare or Medicaid beds.
