Assisted Living Tidbits:
The best way to be an effective caregiver is to take care of yourself. Often times, Caregivers (whether they are a sister, aunt, son, daughter, or even hired care) neglect their own needs and health. Caregiving may be one of the most challenging jobs one can undertake, and with the attached emotional drain that you might experience, it is easy to have your own health and well-being adversely affected. The best way to be an effective caregiver is to be able to "unplug" from your duties to exercise, sleep, take care of your personal affairs, and have fun. Most importantly, if you feel like you have too much to handle, ask for help.
