Assisted Living Site Search Feature Added

Posted by admin on Mar 18 2008 | Uncategorized

I have added a search feature to the site now, so you can search for assisted living, or facilities  with specific features!   I think it is a nice add to the site.   You can see this search function here.

I may put a search box within the pages somewhere, but that takes up a lot of room, so for now I will just have it as it’s own page.

Gay Friendly Assisted Living

Posted by admin on Mar 14 2008 | Uncategorized

I was reading a great article out of the Sacramento Bee today about Gay-Friendly Assisted Living. It reminded me that there is most certainly a need for ‘open-minded’ care, and being what it is, that it may not be as openly accepted or advertised as other assisted living facilities. This is a shame, since, by one researcher’s count, an estimated 1.3 million of California adults are gay, lesbian or bisexual, though more than half of those are bisexual. Nationally, 4 percent of adults identify themselves as gay or lesbian. I would imagine a same ratio in other states.

So, I have created a page just for gay-friendly assisted living facilities. I only have one facility listed on this page as of this writing – thus, I would like to offer any gay-friendly or alternative lifestyle assisted living facility a free photo listing. Just contact me through the main site and I will help you get your listing on the site.

To see my gay-friendly assisted living page, please go here.

Seniors Completing Their Education

Posted by admin on Mar 03 2008 | Visitor Feedback

I received an interesting e-mail today that I wanted to share. I didn’t have the answer, but I thought it was a great question. I know that many seniors go back to school in some capacity. Of course, school can be expensive for anyone, and when you couple that with any possible costs for assisted living, or any other costs of living, you can imagine how difficult it may be to actually make happen. The e-mail said:

Are there any grants or funding available to help a seniuor complete an education. Have 20+ credits and more than 300 Contact hours of education credits and would like to know what is available. Am 66 and on SSI and disabled. Robert (Bob)
